Ten Breakthrough Marketing Ideas

Ten Breakthrough Marketing Ideas

 by: John Smith

1. Create a directory of web sites on a specific topic. Give people the option of adding the directory to their web site by linking to it. Put your business advertisement at the top of the director's home page. This technique will get lots of people to linkto your web site and give you free advertising.

2. Do you have a product or service that doesn't sell good? Offer it as a free bonus for someone else's product or service. Get free advertising by placing your web site or business ad on the product or in the product package.

3. Trade autoresponder ads with other businesses. If both of you send out information with auto- responders just exchange a small classified ad to put at the bottom or top of each other's autoresponder message.

4. Start a free tip line. Offer a free daily, weekly, or monthly tip recorded on your voice mail. The tips should be related to your business. Include your ad for your web site or business at the beginning or end of your message.

5. Exchange content with other web sites and ezines. You could trade articles, top ten lists, etc. Both parties could include a resource box at the end of the content.

6. Offer to insert ads into your product package for other businesses. Just ask, in return that they do the same for your business. You should only trade insert ads with businesses that have the same target audience.

7. Offer a free daily class in your web site's chat room. The class should be related to the subject of your business or web site. This will get people to visit your web site everyday.

8. Do you have a product that doesn't sell good? Offer it as a free bonus for another businesses product or service. You'll get free advertising by placing your web site or business ad on the free bonus.

9. Place different emotional response ads for the same product or service all over your web site. One ad may hit their hot button to buy more than another ad.

10. Publish your e-zine in e-book format. You could offer a larger number of articles per issue. It also allows you to include graphics with your ezine.Your advertising revenue would increase because you could charge businesses for large color ads.

NFL Chicago Bears: 2006 NFC Champions

NFL Chicago Bears: 2006 NFC Champions
When Lovie Smith was hired to be the Chicago Bears head coach in January 2004, he announced his three point plan for the franchise; (1) Beat the Packers, (2) Win the division, (3) Become Super Bowl Champions. In Smith's first season, the Bears achieved goal number one. The next season, they achieved goal number two. And in 2006, Smith's third season, the Bears came within one victory of achieving goal number three. In 2006, the Bears had their best season in 21 years. They won the NFC Championship game and finished the regular season with the best record in the National Football Conference. Their run was sparked by a defense that allowed the fewest points in the conference. Their high-powered offense was led by 23 touchdown passed from Rex Grossman, the most by a Bears quarterback since 1995. Their Special Teams unit was the most explosive in the league. Rookie phenom Devin Hester set an NFL record for most touchdown returns in a season with six. Relive the Bears extraordinary season in this NFL Films DVD.

Influence: Science and Practice (4th Edition)

Influence: Science and Practice (4th Edition)
Influence: Science and Practice is an examination of the psychology of compliance (i.e. uncovering which factors cause a person to say “yes” to another's request).

Written in a narrative style combined with scholarly research, Cialdini combines evidence from experimental work with the techniques and strategies he gathered while working as a salesperson, fundraiser, advertiser, and in other positions inside organizations that commonly use compliance tactics to get us to say “yes.” Widely used in classes, as well as sold to people operating successfully in the business world, the eagerly awaited revision of Influence reminds the reader of the power of persuasion.

Cialdini organizes compliance techniques into six categories based on psychological principles that direct human behavior: reciprocation, consistency, social proof, liking, authority, and scarcity.

Customer Review: I was influenced to read more

I have recommended this book to my teenage son. It was provocative, entertaining, and informative. I use some of the ideas to exert influence at work and in other situations. It would be a great book for someone in marketing or sales. I used some of the ideas to teach a class on getting things done when you're not in charge.

Customer Review: A Critically Important Text for the 21st Century

This is a wonderful summary of six key social psychology principles that go far to explaining how we as consumers and voters are manipulated by "compliance professionals." The discussion of each principle is interesting and well written, with enough humor to keep it very readable. I especially appreciate the author's advice as to how to easily counter attempts at being manipulated.

My only complaint about the book is that many of the examples and studies cited have obviously not been updated since the 1980's. This is a very minor problem and in no way detracts from the importance of the work. Get it, read it, and join the author in his prinicipled fight against the unscrupulous use of these principles!

Customer Review: Comfortable, well designed mouse but some flaws hinder it's potential

I've had this mouse about a month now. I'll try and point out some things I feel other people have missed.

I should start with a short description of how my computer is set up on my desk, since a lot of people leave that out. I've got my tower on the left of a wooden desk and it's roughly 3ft away from where my mouse is located to the right. I've got a Netgear WNR854T Wireless-N transmitter (I would not recommend NetGear products to anyone) on top the computer case. Why does that matter? because of the wireless USB receiver for the mouse. Initially I had it plugged into the back of my computer out of the way where it couldn't get accidentally smacked by anything. However that caused severe cursor lag and unresponsiveness. I moved the receiver to the front of my tower and the response improved but still suffered from lag, especially while gaming. I searched all through the Logitech, and other, forums looking for solutions but all I usually ran into were the same complaints with little help offered other then insults hurled at Logitech's poor design. I tried switching mousepads thinking maybe it was the laser not tracking, but once again it had little effect. Finally I ordered a USB extension cable for $[...] off Amazon.com and used it to move the USB receiver to directly in front of the mouse and now I haven't had any problems at all. So like all things wireless the complaints about poor wireless performance come down to the environment, what works well for one person may not work at all for the next.

On the software side there are a few irritating problems. The Logitech "SetPoint" software is a all-in-one driver pack for all their mice and is about a 47MB package, no option to download only the drivers for your mouse. There is also a bug that occasionally occurs for some when you open Microsoft Outlook, or ActiveSync, the active window begins to flash. It seems to occur more frequently if I use the dedicated e-mail button on the mouse itself, but it has also happened when I open Outlook by the usual double clicking. It's extremely irritating as once it starts the only way to stop it is to restart your computer. If you don't, your open window and desktop will flash and interrupt either your typing or close whatever menu you opened by right clicking. Bear in mind it only happens occasionally. Logitech has no fix for this as of yet, nor do I suspect they ever will as it seems to have happened with the last several versions of their "setPoint" software.

Also, the "SetPoint" software does not seem to overwrite the mouse setting in the windows "Control Panels" for speed settings. Even though I had the pointer speed turned up high in the "SetPoint" software the mouse settings in "Control Panels" remained set at medium and it did seem to cause a few odd speed problems with the pointer. I don't recall seeing anyone else mention this, so maybe I'm just really lucky...

Overall I really enjoy the mouse despite the flaws, I have rather long fingers and it's very comfortably set-up. You can click on either side of the mouse from about the middle on up and it activates the button which is great when you're scrolling with the wheel as you can just tilt your finger a little and click either right or left next to the wheel, it cuts down on finger strain a lot especially if you're like me and spend a lot time scrolling through webpages.

It also has an off switch on the bottom. I know that might not sound like a big deal to some, but being able to turn it off when you're not using it, unlike other wireless mice, actually turned out to be a bigger deal for me then I thought it would. I've seen people complain about the "auto-off" feature not working like they thought it would, but how hard is it to turn the mouse over and hold a button for two seconds?

The last mouse I had was a Microsoft IntelliMouse 2.0 It was a good mouse, but the shape of the MX610 is far more comfortable and now that I seem to have gotten the tracking problems, despite my initial misgivings, I don't plan on replacing it anytime soon.

Customer Review: Too Much Trouble

I purchased the MX 610 Logitech mouse just under 2 years ago. The original device lasted about 9 months and was replaced by Logitech. It had serious functionality issues, i.e., cursor jumping all over the screen, the downloaded software continually resetting itself to defaults that I neither wanted nor expected, programmable buttons working only part of the time. I thought these problems were due to receiving a lemon, but after getting the replacement and within a shorter time, the new one started acting the same way. Anyone who likes to play games will understand how infuriating it can be when you can't get the cursor to a certain point, or when dropping and dragging items like photos you need to pick the mouse up and move it because you've run out of desk space to move it far enough. This mouse replaced a Logitech Optical corded mouse that I loved, except for the cord. I just ordered a new Logitech Optical wireless mouse, and hopefully that will be better than this Laser version that I have absolutely no faith in. Also, getting a Laser cordless mouse requires stock in a battery company as this one ate them up pretty quickly

Slime Skabs Pre-Glued Patches with Levers

Slime Skabs Pre-Glued Patches with Levers
Skabs, Peel & Stick 6/1 Pre Glued Tire Patches, With 2 Tire Levers, Can Be Used With Tubeless Bike Tires, Inflatables, Tarps, Rafts, Miscellaneous Plastic & Vinyl Repairs, Advanced Glue Technology.

Customer Review: Worked great, better than Super Patches!

These stuck fine for me. They are round instead of square like Super Patches and the tire rougher is metal instead of sandpaper. Seems to work just fine and stick well. They seem a little heavier than Super Patches which tend to crinkle and air-pocket. These are green opaque but don't seem to air-pocket as much as the others.

Customer Review: simply doesn't work

I had a small punture that was about 1/3 cm wide. I followed the instructions and used the patch after I roughened up the area. It looked like it was sealed properly, but within 12 hours the tire was flat again. I tried it again and this time I gave it a day to stick before I inflated the tire. It worked a little better, but still got flat. The only reason why I gave this product 2 stars is because the tire levers included makes it a whole lot easier to remove and replace the tire.

Stretch Your Marketing Reach

Stretch Your Marketing Reach

 by: Kathleen Gage

One of the most cost effective marketing strategies you can utilize is an online newsletter, also referred to as an E-Zine.

You can provide valuable content to your customers and potential customers with an E-Zine. The beauty of utilizing the Internet to distribute your information is often people will forward your information to others who have similar interest.

The key to success with an E-Zine is consistency in distribution. It wont be beneficial to have a sporadic schedule. Distribution of your online publication should be done like clockwork. With all the automation tools available you can develop a system that is relatively trouble free.

For many, the greatest challenge will be the development of content. There are a few ways you can handle this. One, take a day to write several articles and put them in a file that you can easily access. That way, the writing is over and done.

Second, have others write articles for you. Many people are anxious to write for online newsletters.

Third, a quick Internet search is bound to produce several places you can access articles that are there for the taking. Usually, the only requirement is that you give full credit to the authors.

Because I love to write so much I prefer to write my own articles. And yet, if ever in a pinch, I know there are many options.

Here are some examples of well done E-Zines. Each has produced excellent results for name recognition, promotion opportunities and back end business. Notice all have a place to leave an email address. I highly recommend this in that this helps you to build a solid database of interested readers.

In my experience, I have found E-Zines, when sent to people who want them, are one of the most incredible marketing tools you can use.

Super Size Me

Super Size Me
In Super Size Me filmmaker Morgan Spurlock unravels the American obesity epidemic by interviewing experts nation-wide and by subjecting himself to a "McDonalds Only" diet for thirty days straight. His Sundance award-winning feature is as entertaining as it is horrifying-diving into corporate responsibility nutritional education school lunch programs and how we as a nation are eating ourselves to death.System Requirements: Running Time 100 MinFormat: DVD MOVIE

Customer Review: Good for nutrition education..

I am a nutritionist and dietitian. I used this DVD in my nutrition education class. The participants were very impressed by the movie. It saved me a lot of time for the preparation.

Customer Review: America, and soon the world is on the down-ward-slope

Some people don't know that fast food is not good for you, and some do. Other people just don't know how unhealthy fast food is. This documentary shocks people not only in what he is doing but FACTS that are going on in the US.

Some rules that were set that they set in the start of the movie:

1. He MUST eat everything that he orders. (even the condiments and toppings that are added)

2. He MUST Supper Size if they ask

3. He will eat McD's for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

4. He will have to walk what the average American walks in a day. (1 mile or less a day)

5. Lastly he can't exercise (the average American doesn't exercise).

In the start he is at the peak condition for his age range. He asks three doctors what they can expect through the duration of this experiment. Pay very close attention to what they will say, also pay very close attention to what they say through out the experiment.

Yea, many Americans don't eat fast food for all three meals, also he is not trying to bring down McD's. He doesn't even show an answer for what to do at the end. The purpose of the film is to raise attention about the epidemic of nutrition deficiency, and for you to make up your own answers using your best judgment.

Mini Dehumidifier

Mini Dehumidifier
This mini dehumidifier has been design to adsorb moisture from small enclosed areas (maximum area: 10'x 10'). It will help protect clothes and valuables from the damaging effects of mold/mildew and moisture rot. It is 100% renewable and needs no power to operate. Just hang the eva-dry unit in a closet, or you can place it in other small enclosed spaces, and it will start to adsorb moisture. There are no batteries required or cords to plug in, the unit works without power. There is an indicator window with special "moisture meter crystals" that change from blue (when dry) to pink (when wet) to indicate when the unit needs to be "renewed". The unit will adsorb approximately 8 to 10 ounces of moisture (depending on humidity levels this should take between 3 - 8 weeks). Once the moisture has been adsorbed it cannot leak or spill. This unit uses a specialized engineered crystallized silica gel that is odorless, non-toxic and completely safe. When the indicator crystals turn Pink it is time to "re-new" the unit. Simply remove the unit from where it is adsorbing moisture and plug it into a power outlet.

Customer Review: Nice Product

I live in Haiku on the island of Maui, HI. There is so much moisture here that leather goods get moldy within days. I have a lot of electronic equipment, leather and canvas bags, that I had moisture/mold problems with when we moved here. Now I keep them in plastic boxes with one of your products in each box and ever since I have had no problems! If your product can work here it can work anywhere!

Thanks

Customer Review: Excellent Camera Bag Dehumidifier

What a great little product. I was looking for something to keep my camera bag moisture free and happened to see an article in Pop Photo magazine talking about this product. If you own a DSLR and lenses, you should know that moisture can cause mold and fungus to grow IN and on your lenses.

If you have a large(ish) camera bag - which most DSLR owners do - this is almost perfect - slightly on the large size but I still managed to get it, my Nikon D80 with a lens attached and two addition lenses, all three lens hoods, my extra battery and USB cable to fit in the bottom of my LowePro Orion Trekker II.

I love the fact that it is reusable by simply plugging it in for 8 hours to dry itself.

Of all the articles that I have written, I consider this article of online marketing business to be my best article. Hope you feel the same too.

A online marketing business Artilce for Your Viewing
Working With A Creative Marketing Firm.

With competitive shopping you simply request a few bids and go with the lowest price. Although the right person for the job might also happen to be the lowest bidder, it's unwise to shop for price alone when your image is at stake. Consider the comparative shopping alternative: search for the firm that can best meet your needs within the limits of your budget. Choosing the right firm for the job is just as important as the decisions you'll make during the course of developing your marketing materials. Take the time compare. Find your perfect match. You'll be glad you did.

Your Strategic Partner. Your marketing firm should not be perceived as an added strain on your budget. Instead, they should play an integral role in allocating resources. They should strive to develop an informed point of view not only of your company and it's products, but of your competition as well. This knowledge will serve as a foundation for developing more effective marketing strategies. Their relationship with you should be structured around business success, not the less-tangible realm of design. Design is a problem-solving discipline not an art. When you stop and think about it, you will probably realize that you're not much interested in design at all. You need growth or profits, or both.

Taking Charge. It is very possible that you have only the most superficial knowledge of what a marketing firm really does. You might expect them to tell you how they work, the process, the schedule and when and what will be required of you. You might also expect them to keep you informed of all progress, and provide options and alternatives when appropriate. Any respectable firm will openly welcome this responsibility. It is how they keep things moving efficiently and how they ensure outstanding and consistent results. Every executive wants to relax, believing their business is in capable hands. A good marketing firm should give you this confidence. Through their performance and reliability, you'll come to trust their judgement, their work, and yes, even their fees.

Your Role. As the client, you are the decision maker. You must make solid business decisions and then step back. Tough to swallow? Just consider that micro-managing projects can create a negative and counterproductive work environment and will almost always compromise the integrity of the finished marketing piece.

Partnering With Your Staff. Being efficient and competitive in today's economy requires the utilization of the most sophisticated resources while maintaining a high degree of flexibility. To accomplish this in the most cost-effective way, you must employ a core staff of managers, and supplement them with trusted outside specialists. This way, it is possible to implement the best possible talent at minimal costs. Specifically, when it comes to creative services, it's nearly impossible for any company to employ enough talented individuals to handle it's many different communications needs internally. Using well-meaning but unqualified internal staff can be very expensive in the long run in lost efficiency and in market impact. Because effectiveness is critically important, your marketing firm, when implemented as your strategic partner, is always the least expensive and most productive alternative.

Laying The Foundation. The first thing that should be done by any marketing firm after being assigned a project is to schedule an information-gathering session with you and your key staff. This should cover not only scheduling, budget and job specifications, but also in your competition, target audience, and objectives. You should have all the features and benefits of your product or service prepared for review. This will help sharpen everyone's focus and objectives, and in turn, ensure that what is produced is not only creatively excellent, but strategically targeted. This meeting normally takes place either at your office or theirs. However, in today's wired world it is completely reasonable to expect a conference call and a few emails to do the trick quite nicely.
The Right Ideas. It has been proven best for everyone if you assign only one or two key decision makers at your company to work directly with your marketing firm. This way everyone stays focused on real solutions and are not distracted by too many personal opinions. Good firms normally present no more than three initial concepts showing completely different approaches to the project at hand. Many clients ask for five, six, seven or even more concepts, but offering too many solutions up front only complicates things and almost always results in a poorly developed marketing piece.

Redefining Creativity. When you discuss creativity, you often define it in terms of talent, originality, fashion, trends and praise by creative peers and opinion leaders. For the sake of the bottom-line however, you must think differently. We need to understand that creativity must be redefined as an original way to sell a product or communicate an idea. When the focus is on typefaces and colors, poor marketing projects are produced. When the focus is on defining and conveying a message, great marketing projects are produced.

Your Budget. All companies, all industries, all products have different marketing needs and different methods of determining budgets. Introduction of a new company or product requires heavy spending based on anticipated results, while an established business might implement an annual marketing budget based on previous year's sales. There is no standard formula for determining your ideal budget, but with a little research, your marketing firm should be able to help you establish a solid baseline to start planning.
The Plan. The first step in developing a successful marketing plan is to determine who you are and what makes you special. You must fill a need or people will have no use for your offerings, right? Consider where you want to be and how best to get there. Decide what it is that sets you apart and how this will benefit the consumer. A thorough understanding of yourself, your prospects, and your competition will help you determine and achieve your goals.

The Focus. Although you may offer a variety of benefits that would appeal to many consumers, there is usually one single selling point which will win or lose your best market. Determine that one very special selling point and you will have established a focus which will set the standards for your competition to aspire to. When planning your communications, your message must be clear and specific to your objectives. If the message cannot be distilled down to one or two sentences, you are saying too much.

The Schedule. Despite popular misconceptions, good creative work doesn't always come in a flash of inspiration. It usually comes from much trial and error. This is why you need to take the time to consider several approaches, work them through, and revise them. In addition, you should address budgeting, printing, mail handling, scheduling, and other issues relevant to the success of the project, at the beginning of the project. All this, plus the need to perform in a businesslike fashion, means that your promptness in providing materials and making approvals is crucial if you are to meet deadlines.

Success. How do you measure the effectiveness of your marketing efforts? An immediate increase in sales? Improved image? Breaking into a new market? Ideally each piece would generate more sales, improve your overall image and get you a big chunk of new customers. Yes, on occasion, a single marketing project can produce remarkable success. But, marketing should be viewed as a cumulative effort growing stronger with each project. Set your sights on building long-term success one project at a time.

Keeping It Intact. You've mapped out a solid plan. You've developed a great concept. You've created outstanding visuals. You're brave new approach to marketing is going great. So, why not just throw in a few "support' projects? Because you are always judged by your poorest effort, that's why. When it comes to marketing success, it isn't enough to simply complete each project and then move on. You must look at the big picture every single item that sports your logo must fully support your corporate identity, and every single item related to a particular project must fully support that project and it's message. And, ultimately, every aspect of your business will either build your brand or make it crumble.

It's A Crazy Business. A few additional tips on how you can help minimize obstacles, delays, and unnecessary costs.

1. Provide directional comments there is no need to write copy or re-design layouts that is why you hire your marketing firm.

2. Review all copy/layout(s) to ensure work is strategically on-target and that your facts and figures are accurately represented.

3. Provide your materials, comments, and approvals on time.

4. Making all revisions at once will save time and money, and avert errors which occur when information is submitted piecemeal rather than in an organized and controlled manner.

5. Avoid surprises and you will help avoid dilemmas.

Logitech Lap Attachment for Force Feedback Wheels

Logitech Lap Attachment for Force Feedback Wheels
If you're looking for better control and a comfortable fit in your lap when using your Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel, you've got it. The Lap Attachment connects to your wheel to provide a stable driving experience.

Customer Review: Logitech lap attachment

Poor design!! The bottom of the unit where it connects to the steering wheel has uneven hard plastic pieces that irritate the thighs after using the system for a while. You also must stabilize the unit by holding your thighs together as opposed to other manufacturers that drape over your lap. I guess in a way you can get some "thigh master" exercises at the same time your playing a game.

Customer Review: Good exersize machine.

I can't squeeze my legs together for a whole race without feeling like Susan Summers. If you're looking for an exercise machine this is a good choice. But, (here comes a plug), if you want a stand that works then look for mine on eBay (racing wheel LapStand).

PlayStation 2 Cordless Action Controller

PlayStation 2 Cordless Action Controller
The Logitech Cordless Action Controller for Playstation 2 lets you stop tripping over your game wires. It's got the control you need for better gaming, combined with incredible wireless freedom. Play your favorite games up to 30 feet away! Requires 2 AA batteries

Customer Review: DELAY OF GAME, BUTTON LAG

The feel, size, weight, balance are all excellent on this controller. The joysticks have a non-slip coating that is excellent. I will return this device because of one reason, the tenth of a second delay on the buttons. It is just enough to make action games like "Black" twice as difficult to play. It is a real shame because everything else about this device is fantastic. One more small complaint, the pictures here show the buttons on the right are color coded to match original controler, mine were not. They are marked with circle, square, triangle and X, but all in black and white. The really sad news is that I have not found any other wireless that is any better.

Customer Review: This is the controller you want. Period.

It all started when my buddy Dave and I were trying to rock some Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, using his old, busted Nyko wireless controllers. Cries of "Oh come on. I was blocking! Look. Look at it, I got the stupid button held down. I never took my finger off it!", "Why is my guy moving, I'm not even pressing anything!", and "Why does this clown keep jumpi.... yeap, and the controller's dead. Look. I keep hitting buttons, and there's noth... oh wait. There it goes." filled the room.

So the quest to obtain wireless controllers that were actually decent was born. I checked Amazon, and these had the highest rating, so I decided to go out on a whim, and drop 60 dollars plus for two PS2 controllers. 30 dollars each is a ludicrous amount of money to spend on controllers for a system that's pretty much obsolete, but you know what? Worth every penny. Every. Single. Penny.

They feel great, they're responsive, they have a nice weight to them, and best of all? They work. They never go on the fritz, there's zero lag between button presses and game action, the batteries last a long time, and they never lose connection.

I've read a few negative reviews on these. Yeah, the manual that comes with them is not the greatest. (If you even want to call it a manual.) It's a folded piece of multilingual instruction sheet crammed inside the cardboard of the blister pack, but it's not exactly quantum physics to figure out. You plug the end that looks like it goes into the PS2 into the PS2, and you mash the buttons on your controller with your thumbs while you deliver repeated beatings to your buddy Dave with zero lag, and zero headaches. That's it. No manual required, really.

The only thing that I would call a downside with these controllers, is the fact that the controllers and the receivers appear to have a unique radio ID.

I have two of these controllers myself. (Yeah, me and Dave liked em so much, I bought two for myself.) You have them both plugged into the deck at the same time. They're not like regular cordless units where whatever controller you hit first is player one. Whatever controller Player 1 was on when you plugged them both in, will be player 1 indefinitely. Not a problem, right? I agree, it's not a problem, per se. But you have two controllers that look exactly the same. You grab one, sit your behind down on the couch, grab your tasty beverage, and prepare to unleash a most furious beatdown upon Stryker, with all his throw-happy computer controlled cheating, only to realize you've got "Player 2". Can't switch em, can't do anything. You physically have to go dig the other controller out of the couch cushions, because unless you've got someone else with you, the controller in your hand is doing absolutely nothing.

That minor setback aside, go get these things. They're the best PS2 controller ever. Period. You want these. Ignore all other controllers. I've tried em, they're garbage. This is where it's at.

Palm TX Handheld

Palm TX Handheld
Created for today's fast-paced mobile landscape, the sleekly lightweight Palm TX handheld keeps you connected to your most important data--from email to files stored on your office PC--while you're away from your desktop with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. It also features a high-resolution 320 x 480-pixel screen (with portrait and landscape orientation modes), a fast Intel 312 MHz ARM-based processor, expansion slot for Secure Digital (SD), MultiMedia (MMC), and Secure Digital I/O (SDIO) cards. The 128 MB of non-volatile flash memory (of which approximately 100 MB is available for files and software) protects your documents and information, even if the device is not charged and the power runs down. And, of course, the Palm TX features Palm's suite of information management applications, the ability to edit Word- and Excel-compatible files, and synchronization with Microsoft Outlook (Windows only).

Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity
Stay connected easily when you're on the go with the built-in Wi-Fi wireless connectivity (802.11b), which enables you to access email and browse the Web at hotspots such as at coffee shops and in airports, or in your office if you have a wireless LAN network. You can even retrieve documents from your main computer with the included WiFile LT software. The Palm TX also comes the following enhancements:

  • Added ability for the device to scan for available networks
  • Improved connection logic to automatically connect to available compatible networks
  • Three steps to easily set up a new network connection
  • A free 30-day subscription to all T-Mobile Wi-Fi hotspots
With built-in wireless Bluetooth connectivity (version 1.1), you can synchronize the Palm TX with a Bluetooth-enabled computer from across the room (within a range of 10 meters, or approximately 30 feet). But that's just the start. Using a compatible Bluetooth-enabled phone, you can send and receive e-mail and connect to the Web, send multimedia (MMS) or text (SMS) messages, and even automatically dial any number in your handheld's Contact's application. (You can also synchronize data the "old-fashioned" way via the USB connection at the base of the handheld.)

For mobile professionals, the Palm TX provides all the conveniences of managing email on the road. With Wi-Fi access or Bluetooth technology, you can check corporate or campus email as well as personal accounts; download, read and edit a Word or Excel report on the fly; synchronize Outlook contacts, calendar, tasks and memos; and work with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, using VersaMail software, to synchronize email and calendar

The Palm TX handheld's compatibility with SD Cards up to 2GB lets road warriors carry a few favorite home videos and be entertained on long trips.

Support for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files
With the included DataViz Documents To Go software, you rehearse your PowerPoint presentation discreetly in an airport, make last-minute changes to a Word document, and check the numbers in an Excel spreadsheet and update them on the spot. The Palm TX comes with support for native Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. And with the included Adobe Reader for Palm OS, you can download and view converted Acrobat files.

Multimedia
The Palm TX comes bundled with Pocket Tunes MP3 player for playing music files or Podcasts, which allows you to create and edit play lists, shuffle songs and navigate by album, artist or genre. The Palm TX also includes built-in software for viewing digital photos and video clips. And with MobiTV software (sold separately), you can view a wide range of television programs, including news, sports and entertainment, directly on the Palm TX handheld.

Operating System and Software
Veteran Palm OS handheld users will immediately notice the new Favorites view, which provides easy access to applications, files, and folders. The installed Palm OS 5.4 also introduces the Files application, which enables easy navigation among folders and files. It uses the intuitive and easy-to-learn Graffiti 2 writing software to input data into the handheld (as well as an on-screen keyboard). Windows users can synchronize their calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes with Microsoft Outlook. The Palm OS features the following organizer applications:

  • Contacts: Lets you store several addresses for each contact, and with new fields for more phone numbers, multiple e-mail addresses, instant messenger IDs, and Web sites.

Customer Review: Good Features, Poor Screen Calibration

I bought this as an upgrade from my Tungsten T3 that I had finally given up on due to an issue with the screen loosing it's calibration. The TX model's wifi worked beautifully with my home network (Linksys WT54G) wireless router. The screen was very bright, battery life was average for a Palm device. I purchased a keyboard to go along with this device. I was aiming to reduce the need for a desktop PC and the weight of a laptop as most of my computing is done online and within MS Office applications.

The keyboard and the TX's communication was touch and go at best. I gave up and the keyboard sits in my night stand drawer.

The the screen calibration started to get funky. I removed the screen protector, cleaned under the bevel of the casing as suggested by many internet sites and still no resolution. Other then the screen calibration (which has become unbearable @ 2x or more daily) the device is wonderful.

The speaker on the back is a horrible design IMO.

I've decided to shop for a Pocket PC based PDA and sell this device on auction to recoup some of the cost of the next purchase I make. Research the screen calibration issue online before purchasing this device. If you are Palm loyal, then moving to Windows Mobile may be a difficult decision, but if this is your first PDA, consider a windows mobile device. Granted they crash more often than a Palm ever will, but at least you are used to that with your desktop. A mis-calibrated screen will render this device unusable.

Customer Review: Gotta Love this thing. Couldn't manage without it

I used a a few different Clie (the Sony version of PALM) and always really liked them.

But the PALM T|X I think is better.

Of course, the use of calender and address book is intuitive and the

WI-FI works great (which I found out during my break on Jury Duty (yeah! they have WI-FI in court here now!)

I love looking for new (and usually free) applications to play around with (Tip Calculator, Unit Conversion, Knot Tying displays). My favorite game is Bike or Die. It is great to relieve boredom and not an easy game.

I also find no end to creative uses. I'm a photographer and sometimes shoot archival photos for theater. So, I film the show, vidcap images I want into a memory card & transfer them to my PALM. Then I can go to the photo shoot, show them the pictures on my PALM and say "Get in this scene." It cuts 75% of prep time off each photo.

I would also recommend getting the top flip Rhino Skin. I was running with my PALM in my coat pocket and it fell out onto the sidewalk the first week I had it. Even the sound of the PALM hitting the ground sounded like it wasn't going to be hurt. Sure enough, it was fine.

That's more than I can say for my poor repeatedly cracked cell phone.

So, anyone who doubts switching from Clie (I don't even think they're around anymore), have no fear. Switch over. A Palm store even switched all my info over for free.

Oh yeah! The screen switching to horizontal makes reading documents in the T|X a lot more pleasant. And thank you for making a left handed option!

I do have a few issues.

When I first bought the PALM, it had this application called Addit.

Every time you HOTSYNC, it would give you the days news from Reuters.

Not only was this great when I didn't want to carry a magazine, it also motivated me to HotSync every day.

But Reuters stopped doing it a couple months after I bought the PALM. Now I usually don't Hot Sync more than once a month.

I also don't think the plastic screen covering that comes with the PALM works too well. Often, trying to make a "T" turns into an "l" and a space. But I worked on another persons T|X and it was WAY easier. So I think I need another protective cover.

I suppose I shouldn't expect it, but the videos have tended to run slow if they are too big (and I'm talking YouTube quality). I actually haven't tried to play video on it for awhile, so I might not know what I'm talking about.

Over all. Great Product.

How to Earn $60,000+ a Year with Permission Email Marketing

To be frank, $60,000 a year with permission email marketing is conservative. Had you been part of this program 3 months ago you could have made $23,750 in just two weeks. I'll show you how below.

Permission email marketing is the most powerful and profitable way to create a consistent source of income on the internet.

Amazon uses it. Microsoft uses it. Sharper Image and Motorola use it. Even IBM and The Wall Street Journal are using it!

Anyone can follow my simple PE strategy from beginning to end in one sitting and begin earning money with permission email marketing. It is the same strategy online marketing guru's are using to rake in tens of thousands of dollars within a few short weeks.

This isn't a pie in the sky promise. It's a fact. If you're willing to be patience and make a sincere effort, you will be pleasantly surprised at what you can do!

Ready? Ok, let's begin...

WHAT IS PERMISSION EMAIL MARKETING?

Generally speaking, permission email marketing is email marketing which utilizes an opt-in list of names and email addresses of people who have requested information from you.

(An "opt-in" is a prospect who has requested free information or signed up for a free service you provide.)

Marketers use their opt-in email list to create an ongoing and consistent source of high income by first CULTIVATING the list.

CULTIVATING the opt-in email list establishes an ongoing relationship with your subscribers because you will be sending, via email, highly desirable and FREE information.

The information you offer will teach the subscriber something of value. You, the marketer, will make money when you occasionally endorse a new product to the list.

Over time the people on the opt-in email list become familiar with you and grow to trust you.

Having built such trust, when the time comes for you to endorse a product to the list, you can reasonably expect to produce anywhere from 10% to 40% in sales.

The more times you have communicated with your subscribers and the more value the information received offers, the greater expectation there is of a higher percentage of sales.

Remember this one simple FACT and you will not fail to earn a remarkable income as a permission email marketer:

**People are 1000% more likely to buy based on the recommendation of someone they TRUST than from a complete stranger**

SEE HOW OTHERS ARE MAKING AMAZING PROFITS FROM SMALL OPT-IN EMAIL LISTS

Let me give you an EXAMPLE of the power of a well done "Permission Email Marketing" campaign and the profits that can result from such an effort.

In 1999, Mark Provo of Provo & Gladwell Associates developed a hot new software product. The associates hired a web developer to create a web site and place it prominently on the major search engines. However, only a few orders trickled in each week. To speed things up they spammed 1,000,000 random email addresses.

The emailing produced less than $100 in sales and generated a landslide of not-so-nice responses.

It was a dreadful disappointment.

However, on another occasion Mark emailed the same ad to his own in-house, opt-in email list of 8,000 people. These were people who had purchased products from him before or who had, at one time or another, requested more information about other products and services.

Mark had an established relationship with the people on his list. Over time he had CULTIVATED his list by sending out free tips and valuable information. Those on his opt-in list benefited from these emailings and learned to trust him and the advice he gave.

The end result of emailing his ad to his in-house, opt-in list was a whopping $190,000 in sales and zero complaints -- all within three weeks! People on his personally cultivated, opt-in email list trusted him and in no time at all, he made a small fortune and he continues to do so to this day.

As for yourself, consider this:

If you had a high-demand product, your own in-house list of 1,000 opt-in email subscribers, and sent the same email ad, you could very well have made $23,750 in just three weeks.

And just think about it for the long term! If you have your own opt-in email list of 1,000 subscribers, and only 20% of the people make $300 in purchases per year, your income would be $60,000.

If your opt-in email list had 2,000 subscribers and 20% purchased $300 in products per year, your income would skyrocket to $120,000 annually!

Get the picture?

YOUR FIRST GOAL AS A PERMISSION EMAIL MARKETER MUST BE TO BUILD YOUR OPT-IN EMAIL LIST TO A MINIMUM OF 1,000 SUBSCRIBERS.

Next, you'll need to build TRUST with those on your email list by offering them FREE information of real value.

Finally, endorse products of equally real value and you could kiss your money worries good-bye tonight.

AS YOU CONTINUE READING, you will learn how to acquire pre-cultivated, opt-in email list, a free, pre-written newsletter you can use to send to your opt-in email list to continue building TRUST.

Plus you will learn where to get free products with high value... all for FREE! Additionally, you will learn to work only 30 minutes a week and be in a position to earn $60,000 a year or more.

However, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I want to be thorough and explain to you an important detail you must understand about CULTIVATION before attempting this strategy.

HOW TO WORK YOUR OPT-IN EMAIL SUBSCRIBERS INTO A BUYING FRENZY!

As I mentioned above, when you gain your subscribers' TRUST, they will buy from you over and over again. What's more, they will buy from you even if your price is higher than any of your competitors.

The best way to build trust is simply to Stay In Touch with your subscribers. Trust is gained by consistently CULTIVATING them. In advertising circles this is called REACH and FREQUENCY.

For example, if you hear a song played over and over again on the radio (Reach) enough times (Frequency), sooner or later you're going to wind up whistling that tune while at work and getting so caught up in it, that you will go out and purchase the tape or CD, and, this action being repeated by thousands of others, the artist will have a hit.

The radio allowed the recording artist to REACH you; the number of times the disc jockey played the song created the FREQUENCY.

As a permission email marketer, you can REACH your opt-in email list audience for free, as FREQUENTLY as you wish, simply by broadcasting an email with desirable information to them once or twice a week.

Quiz #1: What do you get when your subscribers hear from you consistently?
Ans: TRUST!

Quiz #2: What do you get when your subscribers TRUST you? Ans: ...SALES! SALES! ...and more SALES!

Let me give you a real world example of how I used Reach and Frequency to earn a substantial income as a Permission Email Marketer starting with only 48 people on my email list.

REAL WORLD EXAMPLE:

I emailed a newsletter twice a week loaded with useful tips and valuable information. This is how I CULTIVATED the list to gain recognition and TRUST.

These 48 individuals purchased virtually EVERY new product I offered them...

I made, on average, 2 offers per month and usually earned around $30 per sale on these offers.

48 people X $30 = $1440 per mailing X 2 mailings per month = $2880 a month just from a list of 48 people.

That's over $34,560 in a year's time.

So what have we learned so far...

STOP STRUGGLING to sell products to strangers on the internet.

BUILD A RELATIONSHIP with an opt-in email list by offering subscribers something of real value--free of charge.

OFFER DESIRABLE PRODUCTS to your subscribers and kiss your day job good-bye.

By completing the steps outlined below you'll be on your way to quickly becoming a professional, email marketer and a full-time, online income will be well within your reach.

HOW TO GET 1,000 TO 3,000+ OPT-IN, HIGH-RESPONSE EMAIL SUBSCRIBERS VIRTUALLY OVERNIGHT

A cultivated opt-in list is your key to earning an income as a professional, permission email marketer. Building your own opt-in, email list can take months or even years and cost you literally thousands of well spent dollars.

However, through the wonders of modern technology, I will introduce you to an amazing short-cut that will make acquiring your own Pre-Cultivated, opt-in email list an overnight process.

Additionally, you'll get FREE ACCESS to my Professionally, Pre-written Newsletter to continue the ongoing cultivation of your opt-in email list. PLUS- free access to high-demand products.

I will show you how to broadcast the newsletter once or twice a week. You will learn how to endorse one or more of the high-end products inside the newsletter.

The pre-cultivated, opt-in email list, the pre-written Newsletter and high-end products are designed to create an EASY SELL.

As noted above, if only 20% of the people on a 1,000 subscriber, opt-in email list make $300 worth of purchases in a year, your income could be $60,000, or $5,000 per month.

If you have 2,000 subscribers on your list you'd be looking at $120,000 per year...4,000 subscribers could mean as much as $240,000 annually!

Your first goal as a professional, "Permission Email Marketer" must be to build your opt-in email lists to 1,000 subscribers. Acquiring 1,000 subscribers MUST be your driving objective if you truly desire to make real money on the internet.

DON'T BUY FROM THIS SITE!"P J Chandler

"DON'T BUY FROM THIS SITE!"
10 things you must do to avoid losing customers.

by P J Chandler

How welcoming is your web site - and how easy is it for potential customers to buy from you?

Some otherwise professional-looking sites put unnecessary
obstacles in the way of their users - they may as well put up a
sign saying "Don't Buy From This Site". Is yours one of them?

Here is a checklist of 10 things you can do to maximize sales
from your site:

1. Keep it focused - don't try to be all things to all surfers. Specialisation is king in a global marketplace: aim to be the
best in your particular field.

2. Keep it simple - make sure your navigation system is easy to
use. No page on your site should me more that two clicks away
from your home page.

3. Use plain language - net jargon has its place, but do not use
it on non-technical sites. The same goes for unexplained
abbreviations.

4. Don't exclude people - if your offer is only available in a
defined geographical area, say so clearly and up front before
people start filling in forms. A prime offender is holiday
offers that turn out only to apply to US residents.

5. Only request relevant information - customers will be put off
if they have to complete overly-detailed forms before getting
the information they need.

6. Deploy a site search facility on big sites - make it easy for
people to find what they want.

7. Include offline contact information - some customers may want
to telephone for specific information and a real world postal
address is reassuring to buyers.

8. Use testimonials - they reassure buyers and show evidence of
your product quality.

9. Give something away - free ebooks are becoming a popular way
to communicate with customers. Take a look at the example below
and see how this could work for you.

10. Keep graphics to a minimum - bloated image files can extend download times beyond surfers' patience threshold - according to
a recent survey about 30 seconds.

Take a look at your site afresh: pretend you have never seen it
before and see what simple steps you can take to improve your customers' online experience. You will undoubtedly reap rewards
in the form of increased profits.

Customer Review: Tru-Fit Neoprene Multi-Purpose Wrap

Difficult for self application to elbow. Would benefit from an addition strap attached to end of cuff to assist securing. Otherwise good product.

Customer Review: User friendly

very convenient if you want to walk around. Product arrived in good time. I just wish the gel inserts were thicker and the corners rounded, since they tend to scratch the skin whenever the corners end up sticking out of the netting.

With a click of a button, you can convert any PDF file into Microsoft Word, Excel, HTML, or TXT format. Work with document content more easily than ever! Supports password-protected PDFs

Customer Review: Excellent product!

Not only does this product convert PC-generated PDFs to other formats, but it also converts SCANNED PDF files. This is an invaluable tool ... it has saved me a ton of re-typing time!

Customer Review: Worked poorly for me

It is hard to think of this product as anything other than a rip-off. I tried it on two scanned in documents. In both cases, it simply retained the pages as images, and presented the page images as graphic images, in both word and html output. This, of course, did not render them editable, searchable, or anything of the sort.

This product is supposed to have OCR built in. It simply didn't activate the OCR on what was clearly text (albeit scanned), and processed each page as if it were a picture.

I was running the product on NT 4.0. The product give virtually no feedback or control as to what it is doing, or how it is analyzing pages, so if it choses to treat scanned text as a "picture," you are simply out of luck.

I also tried the product on some non-scanned PDFs. It did okay, but the conversion to HTML was quirky, with the text being okay, but with "ruler lines" being poorly placed, often on top of the text.

Maybe version two is better, but it also costs twice as much.
